Frodsham’s EU Debate

Frodsham’s EU Debate

Last night, 7th June, we hosted through a joint initiative of Frodsham Transition Initiative – Allan Arthur – as well as Frodsham Town Councillors Caroline Ashton, Sara Wakefield and myself, along with, resident, Mark Warren who chaired the event. Our speakers were, from left to right, on the remain side, MEP Sajjad Karim and Professor Michael Dugan. Speaking for the leave side, CEO of Silver Cross prams, Allan Halsall and Cheshire West Councillor Neil Sullivan.

EU 007

Thanks to a good turnout, we had a great variety of questions from migration to trade and energy matters. But before that we took a straw poll for a show of hands from the audience, first for those who would vote to remain in the EU, second for those who would vote to leave and finally those who are still undecided. I found it interesting that there was more support for leaving than for staying, but maybe this was to do with the those who attended who were of a more mature age and may have experienced the what the UK was before the EU membership – and so I will conclude this on the latest statistics and urge anyone reading this to register to vote.
